Returning

Longing for a place where one was previously and then returning there, only to discover the feelings are not the same is quite common. Returning to re-see what you loved as a view can be wonderful.

Returning to the same place in a different frame of mind, a different relationship, a change of personal circumstances can be either a blessing or the worst thing one can do. Not only are current issues not solved, but a ‘happy place’ in one’s mind can be destroyed, leaving a person with one less place to ’retreat’ when needed, or the place seems able to help, improve and restore happiness.

‘Never try to go back’ is so true, not only physically, but emotionally as well. Yet how often have you re-met someone with whom you lost contact and discovered the same ‘soul-connection’ that was there before?

How does one decide what would be best. Go with the heart and the gut-feel?

  1. True. As a person who has moved frequently, going back is oftentimes not all it is cracked up to be. Sometimes wonderful, sometimes not, always different. That goes for the external physical places as well as the internal spiritual places. Very interesting post.

  2. I’m not sure what lies in the white space between the words in this post, but I do know that you can’t drive to your destination by only checking out the rear view mirror…
