Here in Johannesburg August is the month of strong winds. I remember really shivering at school break in August. Dresses and long socks, with a gap between ensured we girls desperately wanted to be out of the wind. (I recently saw someone who attends the same school these days, and the girls have an option of a pair of trousers; so much more sensible)
The larger purpose of these winds, beyond just making young girls shiver, is to participate in those global atmospheric activities that bring rain to us in the summer.
The last two years the winds have hardly been with us, and we had hot dry springs, followed by rather wet summers. So now I’m wondering; are these the rain-bringing winds, or are they some different variety?
But do they affect people’s emotions?
I know exposure to really gusting winds makes me grumpy and anxious.
I’m in Miami, Florida USA. Gusty winds hey? Hurricane Irene is coming right my way.
hurricanes and tornadoes scare me silly
As a teacher, I always find wind makes kids jumpy and restless….
i’m one of them
I love wind . . . very energizing. As long as the roof stays put! 😀
we are very different
It makes me very edgy 😦
we need some merlot time together then 😉
A teacher once told me that the children get wild on windy days, even though they are inside.
I’m sure weather affects many of us more that we like to believe
I agree with you Sidey. My moods often change with the weather.
And I don’t even have to be outdoors!
